Why Get Solar Panels Installed On Your Home?
In recent years, solar systems for residential properties have been greatly improved. Part of the improvement in how these systems work is due to advances and adaptability measures implemented by local power and hydro service providers. There is also a broader range of systems to choose from, not to mention the production costs for solar panels have also declined. As such, the costs for solar systems are now much less than they were five or ten years ago.
There are lots of reasons to go solar. Some of the potential benefits to your household include:
Saving on monthly energy costs: on average households offset monthly costs by up to 50%.
Reducing your carbon footprint: Since you are using less electricity from your energy provider, you are helping the environment.
Access to an unlimited and renewable resource: The sun offers unlimited energy and is a renewable source of energy for your home.
Increasing the property value of your home: Home values can increase by as much as $60,000. Plus, homes with solar systems tend to sell faster.
Future proofing your household: installing a solar system and locking in a microFIT contract can help you to offset and protect your home against the rising cost of energy.
How Does It Work?
Solar panels collect energy from the sun and convert it into DC (direct current) electricity. The DC electricity is passed through an inverter, where it is converted AC (alternating current) electricity and sold back to the grid and shared with other homes in your area. Households then receive a monthly cheque for the energy produced as part of Ontario’s microFIT program.
