No! Solar panels have no moving parts; they simply facilitate a chemical reaction between the sunlight and the silicon in the panels, which creates energy. The only maintenance your panels may require is if the inverter breaks, but luckily we have a 20 year warranty on the inverter. This warranty covers shipping, parts and labor.
In many areas where there are lots of critters around, animals would normally try to live under the panels. This is why Green Lion installs a high quality “critter guard” that goes around the perimeter of the panels, not letting any pesky critters make homes underneath the panels!
Firefighters are well aware of panels and how to handle them. Fire divisions do training with their firefighters on the proper way to extinguish a home fire when there are live solar panels on the roof. Also, we install a rapid shutdown box that allows the firefighters to–quickly–disable the electricity running through the panels.
Panels usually only add $8 – $10 dollars to your monthly home insurance costs! In the case that it may be more, you can insure the panels separately through another insurance provider for a low rate.
